CIPA Study Abroad Writing Contest
"Musings from Afar"

Eligibility: The writing competition is open to study abroad students returning from Emory-approved or Non-Emory programs.
General Information: Entries will be judged by a panel on your ability to reflect on and communicate a cross-cultural experience creatively. Writings may be displayed
in various locations around campus, on the CIPA website, and in promotional materials.
Prizes:
The grand prize winner will receive a 5-day first-class Eurail Select Pass. Other possible prizes include airline travel vouchers, travel gear, and discounts to local eateries.
Instructions: You may enter up to three submissions, using any combination of the
following categories, or enter all writings in the same category:
1. Personal Essay
2. Poetry
3. Fiction
Entries must be typed and no more than five pages double-spaced. Please include atitle and your name and email address on each page. Each entry must be submitted electronically with the entry form. All submitted writings become the property of CIPA and cannot be returned.
Tips on what to write: Avoid submitting a research paper or a travel log. We're looking for carefully composed creative works of writing that showcase the author's personality, a senseof place, and critical reflection. Possible themes include: An unusual encounter
abroad, a cross-cultural misunderstanding, a comedy of errors, a moment ofpersonal growth, or adjustment back to life in the States.
